THORNE WEAVING BARN

This project is located minutes off Hwy 101, North of San Luis Obispo and South of Atascadero, Ca.

The Base exterior is 2400 sq. ft w/a covered 600 sq. ft. open wing The Upstairs exterior is 1800 sq. ft w/ a 200 sq. ft deck, overall, the total sq. footage is a tad more than 5000 sq. ft. and construction cost are slightly more than $60.00 per sq. ft. The barn features ferrous sulfide stained and scored concrete lower floor, with cork flooring on the second story. Windows are dual glazed aluminum products with low e glazing. The structure is post and beam with lateral seismic force concerns provided by Hardy Frame Panels. The “oriented strand cellulose infill” is rice byproduct stemware.

The lower barn is complete with a kitchen for dying raw materials, a small office w/ computer terminal, a full bathroom, a spinning room for spinning wheels, and storage for raw materials. A 600 sq. ft open wing of the lower barn is for equipment storage.

The upper floor is open clear span, with a half bath and is designed for 6 to 8 looms for fabric fabrication. The upper floor supports 5 skylight tunnels with can lighting and ceiling fans. There are numerous windows for natural light and a 9 ft. patio door opening on to the upper deck.
